Shunko Cream

(Chinese Name: Zi Yun Gao )

Ingredients:
Dang Gui 30g,
Zi Cao 60g,
Sesame Oil 720ml,
Wax 120g,
Bing Pian 12g

Equipment:
cooking utensil 1,
thermometer (measuring up to 220C) 1,
big container 1 and several small containers,
strainer 1,
Mixer (or chopsticks] 1[pair].

Process:

  1. Cut Dang Gui and Zi Cao into thin pieces.
  2. Pour sesame oil in the pot. Soak Dang Gui and Zi Cao in the sesame oil pot for at least a day or up to three with its cover on. Be sure ingredients are dry and clean.
  3. When ready to make cream. First melt wax in a separate container over hot water. Keep it warm so it retains its liquid form.
  4. Cook herbal mixture using medium heat at 130 ~ 140C degree. Maintain the temperature for 25 minutes. Fish out herbal contents from the pot with the strainer leaving the oil clean without debris.
  5. When the temperature of the herbal mixture cools to 80C degree, add in melted wax.
  6. When the temperature of the herbal mixture cools to 60C degree, add in Bing Pian. Mix it well and pour the mixture into the containers.

Comments
  1. Sesame oil can be replaced by olive oil or xiang oil. Sesame is the best.
  2. Wax oil is best to use bee wax. Other wax may be all right. In the summer time use 120g. In the winter time use 90g.
